Effect of Magnesium on Mineral Nutrition, Chlorophyll, Proline and Carbohydrate Concentrations of Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis cv. Newhall) Plants

چکیده
Magnesium is an essential nutrient for the growth and development of plants. Its deficiency becoming a growing concern in many citrus orchards worldwide, adversely affecting numerous functions plants limiting their productivity quality. Three-year-old orange (Citrus sinensis cv. Newhall) grafted on Swingle citrumelo (C. paradisi Macf. × Poncirus trifoliata L.) rootstock were irrigated 63 days with solutions containing 0, 12, 24, 48, 96, 192 mg Mg L−1. Thereafter, deficiency-induced changes investigated leaf chlorophyll concentration fluorescence, proline carbohydrate leaves roots, as well nutritional status leaves, stems, roots. solution was positively correlated (leaves, roots), Ca (rootstock’s stem), K (roots), Fe rootstock’s total absorption. However, negatively Mn stem, scion’s absorption Mn, Fe, P, K, Ca. The lower values fluorescence parameters observed by effect highest Mg. As far content they not affected treatments. Concluding, this research highlights significance management farming, offering insights into increasing concentrations, understanding root mechanisms absorption, suggesting benefits fertilization to address deficiency. It emphasizes importance careful fertilizer dosages, considering other interactions, provides valuable guidance optimizing nutrition overall sweet trees.
